Today's my birthday. This year, lands on Thanksgiving day. Got invited to fly for a bit with James "Jayo" Older, at this small park only 3 minutes from my house that I never knew was there. smh. Somerset Hills Park in (South) Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the park where a mysterious Las Vegas Rotorhead who goes by the name Elzon, rips his quads. He's a damn good freestyler but doesn't bang his drum loud for the public. Yo Elzon, lol, you reading this?? haha.
Anyhow, since my new long ranger quad build from Jayo isn't completed yet, (friggin RunCam Split V2 is hell to mount on a Catalyst Machineworks Superlight Norris edition 5 inch quad), decided it would be a good opportunity to test out the new T5040C props on my RealAcc quad. Up until this point, I had been using and gotten used to the 5040V2's. I couldn't really rip during this session because I kept getting video knock-outs on my FatShark goggles. I think it was because I had also switched out my Foxeer RHCP antenna with the Lumenier AXII. I don't know if there's such a thing as, good pairing between antenna and VTX (Video Transmitter) but, I suppose my FlySight VTX didn't like the AXII. Still, I tried my best here and there, and finally, with my last pack, I got my quad stuck in a tree which, we managed to bring down using one of those 20 foot extendable swimming pole thingies.
I took the AXII antenna out and put my Foxeer back on. Will have to fly again without video dropouts in order to make my final decision on whether or not I like the 5040V2's prop replacement, the Cyclone 5040C. So far, I think I like it, as it allows me to slow down enough to land. Unlike the 5040V2's, those props are disturbing in that it's always full on and is hell at times to get my quad to slow down enough for me to land. It's probably just my imagination and currently skill level but, yeah, I loved the 5040V2 props for being insane like that. haha.
Anyway, in this video, I'm overlaying two other videos. One with Jayo ripping the park with his quad, and the other an aerial overview of the entire park using my Mavic.
Overall, it was fun being able to hang out with a fellow rotorhead on my birthday to do what we love doing, flying quads!
