The Great Central Railway's annual Autumn Steam Gala. Filmed over the 8th & 9th October 2016. The event marked the return to steam after restoration from scrap condition of standard 2MT 2-6-0 78018, owned by the Darlington Railway Preservation Society.
The event was special for me personally, as I volunteered to help restore 78018 alongside members of the Loughborough Standard Locomotive Group over the last year.
Also seen in the video are the demonstration Travelling Post Office (TPO) runs performed at Quorn & Woodhouse station during the event. These involve a locomotive travelling through the station at a speed of approx. 35mph. Seen here are examples carried out by 6990 'Witherslack Hall' and 777 'Sir Lamiel'.
