We had the opportunity to take a tour of the very cool Hamburg Coffee Museum (it just opened this month) situated in the heart of the old warehouse district (UNESCO World Heritage Site). The museum was full of all sorts of fascinating old artifacts including some fantastic coffee-related vintage records.
After our tour, our guide introduced us to the fine art of Coffee Tasting. As a relative newcomer to coffee (I just started drinking it again a year ago), and someone who has never delved overly deeply into the complex art of coffee connoisseurship, it was an interesting opportunity .
In this video our guide runs us through the proper steps and shows us how to taste a mixture of coffees from around the world. In a follow up video you'll get to enjoy laughing at me as I attempt to do the same but with far less skill or class...it ends up being reminiscent of the olive oil incident that is in another of my tasting videos from an Italy trip a few years ago.
