This year I decided to do something different, instead of just featuring the corn harvest I wanted to show everyone the journey and all the hard work, patience and dedication it took grow this year's corn crop. This year was a phenomenal year for us as I never imagined in our wildest dreams we would end up getting such good corn yields this year! We ended up averaging about 200 bushels per acre between all of our corn fields. I know the good Lord blessed us with good rains & good weather but also the hard work both my brother & I put into raising this years corn crop!
All the corn that we combined this year had no outside sources of nitrogen with the exception of one small corn field that had some composted manure from another organic farmer that was applied to it because it was corn on corn. All the corn fields were only cultivated once with the exception of the corn on corn fields which were cultivated twice. Our highest yielding corn field had no outside sources of nitrogen applied to it. The only nitrogen it received was from our own cattle manure & from nitrogen that the alfalfa hay fixed into the soil. Other than that the corn that was grown on our farm this year was certified organic and was produced without the use of no genetically engineered crops, no synthetic fertilizers, no pesticides (natural or synthetic), no herbicides & insecticides.
I just ask that everyone who comments on this video to please keep your comments polite and respectful. I will not respond back to any impolite or disrespectful comments.
