The Mavic is one of the greatest achievements in technology that I've had the pleasure of witnessing. A drone that can fold up and fit into a large pocket and capture stunning 4k video remotely from distances in excess of 7 km. This is literally going to change the way we view the world and I'm glad I'm out in front of it.
This was my second day with the drone and the firmware update that I had just installed reset all my expo settings without my knowledge. Thus, despite my best attempts, the gimbal and yaw movements are a little jerky at times. Also it was getting pretty dark out so I had to crank up the ISO settings to max so the image gets pretty grainy towards the end. But I think you'll get the idea. Yes, utterly amazing.
Today is 2/21/17. If you want a Mavic of your own and it's not June or July when I'm guessing production will likely catch up to the demand, here's my piece of advice: Order directly through DJI. If you try to order through a retailer (even some of the biggest in the country and world like Amazon) you will be waiting behind thousands of queued up backorders. I ordered mine through B&H Photo 12/12/16, waited over 9 weeks anxiously checking my order status every single day until 2/13/17 when I finally gave up and ordered through DJI directly. It was delivered 4 days later 2/17/17. Most people probably won't get it that fast but according to the forums 10 days seems to be about average. DJI is a company based in China and they are not doing any retailers any favors, fulfilling their own orders before sending out small handfuls at a time to retailers. It's been a huge debacle with a lot of people who ordered back in October/November still without their Mavic.
