My Rose Blog: http://www.mikesroses-salem.blogspot.com/
This slide show documents the growth of a single rose seedling. To my knowledge, this kind of presentation hasn't been done before. The rose plant is a seedling of the hybrid tea rose named 'Voodoo'. The seed itself was obtained through open pollination of the mother 'Voodoo' plant. I harvested the rose hips from 'Voodoo' toward the end of November, 2010. Out of 70 seeds, I was successful in germinating around 20 seedlings, the first one being the one shown in this video (born on January 13, 2011, only one and a half months after the seed was planted). The other seedlings germinated at various times through the end of May -- so it pays to be patient for at least 6 months. The seedlings were started indoors on my kitchen table and then, weather permitting, were shuttled outdoors to harden off and get used to the rigors of the environment here in Salem, Oregon. This little survivor can be seen among its peers in the YouTube video entitled "Rose Garden Panorama (2011)".
