EUMETSAT’s annual Year of Weather animation for 2017 gives a unique insight into the series of severe hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones that wreaked havoc in communities around the globe.
The visualisation, comprised of imagery from the geostationary and polar-orbiting satellites of EUMETSAT, NOAA, the CMA and the JMA, shows an entire year of weather across the globe, with audio commentary from EUMETSAT Training Manager Mark Higgins. The video has been produced by EUMETSAT's data visualisation team, with assistance from Météo-France's Centre de Météorologie Spatiale, and is composed of a global satellite infrared map superimposed over NASA's 'Blue Marble Next Generation' ground maps, which change with the seasons.
