The Phoenix was created by the startup SuitX specifically with the needs of paraplegics in mind. By streamlining the design to focus on this one goal, the team was able to build a suit that is not only one of the lightest available, but at $40,000, is also relatively affordable and comfortable to use. The suit is equipped with a pair of motors located at the hip that move the legs forward, and knee joints that function as simple, locking hinges.
