Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, Co-founder of Gilt Groupe, discusses the company's methods of attracting and keeping talent, and the challenges of balancing a busy life as entrepreneur, wife, fashion icon, and mother with Sheila Lirio Marcelo, CEO of Care.com.
6:01 our culture keeps changing as we continue to double the size of our workforce and I think one of the common threads through all of the different functional areas in our company is that we tend to attract people who are really motivated by challenge and by innovation.
6:51 I think at the end of the day it's a love of what they do I mean all our employees are partial owners in our business everyone receives stock options and I think there's the feeling of pride that we've all built this together we're all in this together that really helps to motivate people to keep them engaged to keep us on our toes and also at the end of the day to have fun, because we have a lot of fun at Gilt.
7:38 We do have an open culture, everybody is out in the open sort of trading floor style, we don't have office for anyone at any level and I think that really fosters a sense of everyone's approachable kind of permanent open door policy and a 12 o'clock when our sales go live there's this incredible energy and excitement just watching the results of our sales that go live every day. We're a little bit of a melting pot of different types of cultures because we've attracted best in class from so many different functional areas.
