Alpinestars Tech Air Race Vest: Coming Soon!
Riders in the States will now have the chance to incorporate Alpinestars’ Tech Air Race Airbag system into a selection of tech-air compatible garments, including the new Missile Leather Jacket and Missile Leather Suit among others.
The vest is CE Level 2 certified and is guaranteed to deploy in as little as 25 milliseconds when the electronic sensors inside detect an impending crash. Argon inflator cartridges initiate deployment. The shell utilizes Lycra, 2D mesh, and Cordura material and around back is a race-developed polymer back protector that’s also CE Level 2 certified.
The back, shoulders, kidney area, chest and upper abdomen are all protected by the Tech Air race airbag system.
All electronic sensors are built in to the main chassis, making the vest completely self-contained and interchangeable between compatible garments.
The system is powered by an integrated, certified lithium-ion battery. It has 25-hour battery life and takes around six hours to fully recharge by way of a micro USB charger. If you’re in a pinch, one hour charging time yields four hours of riding coverage, according to Alpinestars.
Connection is as simple as connecting two color-coded zippers to the outer jacket and plugging-in the system. An LED display on the sleeve of compatible garments indicates the airbag’s operational status.
The interior of the vest has perforated Lyrca and 3D mesh for additional comfort.
Firmware inside the vest can be updated as needed.
Alpinestars explains that the Airbag Control Unit is seal-protected and doesn’t require maintenance. A-Stars offers an online data portal to track the life of the airbag and provide additional advice on maintenance also.
Additionally, A-stars has fully trained staff ready to service and recharge deployed units.
