We went to see the exhibition: DMM.Planets yesterday. As part of Fuji TV's World of Wonders, three halls are filled with sounds, LED's and projections.
You enter by taking of your shoes, walking through some water and then crawling into a giant bean cushion filled dark space. The trip continues through dark corridors into what seems according to the designers teamLab, to be the largest Chrystal Universe ever shown. Basically it is a 20 meter x 20 meter space with rows and rows of 4 meter high LED's suspended between a reflective floor and ceiling. It reminded me of the album cover of Fripp and Eno's No Pussyfooting album.
Another dark corridor leads to a space in which you slowly step from shallow water into a deeper pool, reaching just below the knee. Interactive video's are projected onto the water in which Japanese koi are swimming. When you touch these fish they explode into various other shapes. The effect of the projections onto the water is amazing.
The last space is under a dome structure and the projections and reflections are so disorientating it feels like you have been transported to some kind of psychedelic planet.
A highly recommend visit.
