The dynamic duo is back! Abbey and Abby team up once again to review and taste test several celebrity endorsed cleanse diets as well as discuss their viability as actual weight loss tools. Khloe Kardashian's famous Ghee cleanse is discussed as well as Gwyneth Paltrow's ever popular cleanse smoothie.
They kick things off with a thorough review of Gwyneth Paltrow's favorite smoothie also known as "Goop". Being a celebrity has it's perks, one of which is being able to afford exhorbitantly expensive ingredients for your smoothies. Out of all the different cleanses in Gwyneth Paltrow's 3 day cleanse diet this one was the only one that the average individual could realistically afford to make. This smoothie consists of miso, bone broth, salt, and avacado. Both Abbey and Abby agree that there is an excessive amount of salt in the ingredients. After giving it a thorough blend and pouring it into cups they give it a taste test. Abby notes that the mixture, once complete, actually looks likes vomit. As Abbey pours it out into a cup she goes so far as to compare it to baby diarrhea. After clinking their glasses together the two ladies take a drink and judging from their expressions it's safe to say it was not a pleasant experience. Abbey says that it really coats you pallette and seems like it is such a thick mixture of ingredients it will take quite some time for her pallette to return to normal. Abby states emphatically that it is revolting.
They move on from there to Khloe Kardashian's favorite cleanse diet, a teaspoon of Ghee. She apparently takes a teaspoon of Ghee every single morning. For those of you not familiar with Ghee it is a class of clarified butter that originated in ancient India and is commonly used in both Arabic and South Asian cuisines, religious rituals, and and even traditional medicine. After ingesting her teaspoon of Ghee Khloe waits twenty minutes and then ingests food. She claims it revs up your fat metabolism and fat consumed afterwards is burned at a greater rate that it normally would be. Bring true to their word both ladies take a teaspoon full of Ghee and reluctantly consume it. They note that it is not only oily but also grainy at the same time, and again, if their expressions are any indicator it is not a pleasant taste. The idea behind consuming the Ghee to burn fat is that it is high in buturic acid, which is short chain fatty acid. Research has shown that this can be beneficial to people with IBS or GI issues in general. However, there is no research in existence that supports the claim that Ghee would aid in weight loss in any way. The bottom line here is that no food burns fat.
The last cleanse diet on the list for this episode is the consumption of activated charcoal. Activated charcoal is a form of carbon processed in a way that causes it to have low-volume pores that increase the total surface area available for absorption or chemical reactions. Abbey and Abby have chosen to try the liquid form of activated charcoal for this cleanse diet review. Unlike the other cleanse diets reviewed so far, fortunately, this one tastes like lemon water. It does however look like a glass of completely black water, which I think anyone would be reluctant to drink. The idea behind this cleanse is that the activated charcoal will act as a sponge soaking up all the toxins in your stomach, which it does quite well. It also soaks up everything else, such as vitamins and minerals your body needs to you strong and healthy. They reccomend using charcoal for the purpose it was intended for, such as grilling a nice steak at your next barbeque.
If you have any other cleanse diets you'd like to see reviewed by Abbey and Abby please leave them in the comments below and they will do their best to accomodate.
