Antiphospholipid syndrome or Hughes syndrome is a syndrome that involves arterial and venous thrombosis with prominent manifestations involving the brain. This great mimic can present with psychiatric disorders and some of the clues are migraines, mini-strokes, miscarriages, livedo etc. It is important for psychiatrists to be on the look out for this syndrome as missing the diagnosis can have devastating consequences for the patient.
