Hello
My brother and I build this spectrum analyzer using a 16x32 Adafruit LED-matrix and an Arduino Uno. This was our project for school.
It has 4 different display modes:
-Blue
-Red
-Green;Yellow;Red
-Purple to Blue
Sample frequency = 9600Hz
Number of samples = 128
Fundamental frequency = 75Hz
We used an audio splitter so one side goes from the Ipod to the microcontroller (Arduino Uno). Processing the signal and displaying it on the LED-matrix.
The second signal goes to earphones. That's why it's so silent... If we wanted to use speakers, there wasn't anything left of the audio signal to go to the Arduino Uno.
We could fix this with an opamp though.
Used components :
-Arduino Uno
-Arduino Shield
-Adafruit 16x32 LED-matrix
-External supply
-Resistors
-Capacitors
-LM7805
-Shmitt-trigger
-Push buttons
-Audio input jack
-Audio splitter
-Header pin
-Plexiglass (perspex)
-Bolts and nuts
