May 22, 2014 - I flew my quadcopter at the public green in Middleton MA. It was an overcast day, and I was able to fly up into the clouds! I kept the quad directly above me, as there was a little easterly breeze I was compensating for.
When I lost sight of it and cut the throttle to drop it lower, I didn't account for the parachute-like effect of the rotors causing it to drift down slowly and be taken along in the breeze all the while. So I was looking in the wrong place and I lost it for a while.
Later I was able to zero-in on it due to the sound of the rotors in a tree quite high, a couple houses over. I had to come back the next day with a 100 foot rope and a rock to "grapple" it down by tossing it over the branch it was on and shaking it a lot.
