I shot this little video to test my new Panasonic fz1000 / fz2000 and to find it's best settings. The Panasonic fz1000 and fz2000 are great video cameras but the settings take a bit of getting used to to find the sharpest setting.
Filming in 4k is not very useful for video of wildlife as it only does 30fps so not easy to slow down. Also the focus hunts more in 4k and it hunts anyway on continues focus setting. You can see the problem on the clip of the buzzard. On the Panasonic fz1000 and Panasonic fz2000 it seems to work best on single shot focus and then using the video start button not the shutter button. Then there is no hunting and the picture is really good. This seems to be true on Panasonic fz1000 and from others it applies to the fz2000 as well. Ooh and the extended zoom sucks.... No suprise there. So far I am really impressed with this as a video camera..
On my little wildlife reserve winter can be pretty tough, so where do the birds go? A short video of the tawny owl (who has taken up in the pines) and the new arrivals the kestrels :)
Curlews and a couple of lapwing ,which are getting rare, are taking shelter just a few miles away by the coast. Thanks for watching and please subscribe. Alex Sally If you are interested in filming birds and wildlife you might like this guide I wrote on filming wildlife.
