Upgraded to the insane CL-0820-17 "Dark Edition" motors from Micro Motor Warehouse. These motors are so powerful that you rarely require a full throttle state for more than a few seconds, but when you do something unexpected may happen.
This is not LVC. At low votage cutoff, the motors keep spinning at very reduced rate to give you a chance to bring it down and the LED on the flight controller goes into a blinking state. There is no error state on the LED and as soon as you drop the throttle, you can resume as normal. I'm assuming the FC is engaging some sort of safety protocol due to the amp draw.
The only thing I can think to do is put a throttle curve at the radio to prevent 100% throttle. :(
