When I found Chewy, as he is called now, he was walking into traffic on busy Swan Road near Broadway. When he stepped out into the traffic, the cars came to a screeching halt. He was staggering around and very small, which caused all the traffic to stop because drivers couldn't see him too well. More cars bunched up behind the stopped cars. While they were stopped, he would bump into them and it was obvious that he was blind and ill.
He got out of the traffic and the cars started moving forward once again. But then the cycle repeated itself: he staggered back out into the traffic and the cars screeched to another halt and bunched up again. I realized he was going to get killed and maybe cause a motorist to be killed or injured. So, when it was safe to do so, I got out of my truck, threw a soft tarp over him, and captured him.
