I watched the practice show for the 2012 Chicago Air and Water Show. The headliners for this year show were the United States Navy Blue Angels. This was the first year; I would watch the Blue Angels perform at an Air Show. Usually, I would watch the Blue Angels from a distance. I have sensitive ears and I do not like loud noises. I used a pair of ear plugs and the jets were not as loud.
I wasn't exactly sure when the sneak pass would happen. I watched other videos and notice the sneak pass usually happens after the Left Echelon Roll. As I was recording the Left Echelon Roll with my camera, I kept looking to the left to see if Blue Angel #5 was coming in. I finally could see the exhaust from Blue Angel #5 and quickly panned my camera to the left. After Blue Angel #5 passed, I quickly turned around and caught Blue Angel #6.
The camera I used is a Panasonic DMC-ZS3.
Update 8/16/14: I attended the 2014 Chicago Air and Water show. I saw the Blue Angels perform again. I captured the sneak pass again, but the video was not as good.
