Breaking Down the Stick Episode 1: Qanba Drone
The inaugural episode of Breaking Down the Stick by JasensCustoms.com! I dive deep into the Qanba Drone and reveal the inner-workings, point out some mod points, and offer my opinions on what you can and should do to upgrade this fight stick. If you are curious about the latency or the more commonly, and improperly used term "lag", I didn't test that. There are a variety of reasons, but the most important is there isn't a widely accepted method of doing it consistently and accurately. There are a couple efforts that will provide empirical data regarding response time of the system and I am following them closely for future episodes and tests.
Without further ado, here are my basic findings and grades:
Basic Modding: A
You can easily change the lever, buttons, and balltop with basic tools. You need a phillips and flat head screw driver and everything after that is easy.
Basic modding is considered: Lever swap, Button Swap
Advanced Modding: D/F
There isn't much room to work and the single PCB that is sandwiched at the top of the case makes tapping into signal lines difficult.
Advanced Modding is considered: Adding pad-hacks, various fighting board upgrades, or LEDs.
Panel swaps: Not possible due to the plastic construction of the top panel.
Be sure to subscribe and watch future episodes of BTDS. As usual, it only gets better from here! I hope to be upgrading to a 4K camera shortly and may likely move the "set" to somewhere more audio recording friendly. Check me out:
