The is a review of the Fluke 8846A 6 1/2 (6.5) Digit Precision Digital Bench Multimeter (DMM)
The Fluke 8846A bench DMM is a mid-range bench multimeter with a vacuum florescent display. It's capable of making 50,000 measurements per second and includes extensive data logging, statistics, maths, and trend plotting.
The data sheet provided 24 ppm although on it's 10V range it's 15 ppm.
In this review I took at look at the basic functions of this meter. If there is further interest in this bench DMM I will do a follow up review and take a look at it it's other features more in depth - data login, match, statistics, and the trend plot.
Although Vacuum Florescent Displays (VFD) is an old technology but on a bench meter it's makes a very readable bright display. Fluke implemented a dot matrix for the main display to support some of the math and trend plotting functions available on this meter, and although the display is a very nice display on the meter some readability was sacrificed by using a Dot matrix display.
During the review of this meter, I also made extensive use of the Fluke 726 Precision Process Calibrator (similar to the Fluke 725 Process Calibrator) so although not a direct review of the Fluke 726 Precision Process Calibrator many of the functions were covered.
