We had a late start to the winter rain which was perfect for burning off. The property has high fuel loads which means any fires in summer are not only dangerous to people but also burn much hotter than they should and damages the environment. Burning in Autumn, Winter or spring means the fire burns cooler and reduces fuel loads. Remember, this is Australia so fire has been a natural part of the ecosystem for 100,000's of years, mild burn offs are good, hot summer fires are bad.
