A time-lapse video of how this special effects Optimus Prime cake came to life!
It featured light-up eyes and a sound box which played a bunch of Optimus Prime quotes which I mixed together and loaded up onto the device.
I'm a big Transformers fan myself, so the special effects were something I wanted to do myself and were a nice surprise for the customer :)
Lots of planning was involved with the creation of this cake - I had to pre-plan how I would wire up the LED lights (safely) and so that the wiring could be hidden. It's important that the wiring does not come into contact with the cake at all! I enclosed them in some plastic straw/tubing type stuff I had and made sure it extended out from the back of the head enough so that the wires brought back down to the board were away from the cake.
