The temperature was in the 50s on Cannon Beach on the morning of June 10, 2012, a bit too chilly for a swim but great for walking. Haystack Rock is a 235 foot rock adjacent to the beach and accessible by foot at low tide. Many tide pools covered with sea life are left behind to explore at low tide. Haystack Rock itself is a nesting site for sea birds.
