Gusty cross winds - A Carbon Cub and pilot Eric take on the unfavorable conditions at Tyabb Aishow close to Melbourne in March 2012. The goal is the shortest take off but the runway runs north south and the gusting 15 to 25 knot wind is blowing from the west. The result was a take off in just under 4 seconds and 24.3 metres. The challenge is for any fixed wing 3 axis propellar driven aircraft MTOW 600kgs to try it out and get 3 people, one must be an Australian flying club member to measure the take off roll and record the wind strength and direction at an airfield with a sealed runway in Australia. If you get close we should arrange a fly off to claim the trophy.
