n Marigot Bay, St. Lucia, there are 40 cats that have been basically abandoned after the couple that cared for them passed away. You will see more than 20 in this video. Many are domestic, and only a few have been spayed/neutered. Some have been killed by dogs. There are several kittens who are clearly not getting enough food.
An elderly St. Lucian named Fenton comes by in the mornings to feed them, but he doesn't have much to give because he lost his house in Hurricane Tomas. A repairman apparently feeds them as well.
We fed the cats every day while we were there. We gave the elderly man two bags of food and left behind eight bags for the repairman, but that will only last so long. We are also seeing what we can do to arrange to have the cats spayed.
