"Celestial" drum and bass mix, a tribute to Apex.
Robert Dickeson produced a variety of music under various aliases, having released on labels from the well established Hospital Records to deadmau5’s mau5trap. Robert's most popular alias was Apex. In the drum and bass scene, Apex was legendary, known for creating intricate soundscapes ranging from upbeat and atmospheric to gritty and energizing. The detail, passion, emotion and spirit that resonate from his songs have touched lives around the world. The response across social media following his passing has shown just how influential he was, as a musician and as an individual.
Robert’s music has enriched my life in a way I never thought possible through music alone. Years ago, I remember coming across String Theory, the first track in this mix. Afterwards, I was awestruck at the beauty and depth I had just experienced. The world is so fortunate to have had such a talented and innovative individual. While Robert is no longer with us, his legacy lives on and his music will continue to influence and inspire.
To my regular viewers: I know I said in my last vlog (and in its title) that I am taking a break from making videos, but as soon as I had the thought to put together this mix it has been all I have been able to focus on. Working on this video and listening to Robert's music has been therapeutic and is what got me through the last week. Hopefully the music will help others too.
