The chamber introduced a new award this year – the CEO of the Year award. The CEO of the Year award is sponsored by Alaska Airlines and was awarded to Mike Hammes of RAM Construction. RAM Construction is a commercial, heavy civil, and site development corporation, established in 1992 by Mike and Wendy Hammes. Mike Hammes is well-known for his philanthropy and for creating a strong, stable workforce.
Mike and his RAM Construction employees rise to the challenge and come to the rescue when they see a need in the community. Mike empowers his employees to be stewards of the community with the core belief that “people matter.” RAM’s work on Hospice House and Mike’s involvement in Rotary International’s Water Quality Project and sponsoring a school in Honduras earned Mike the 2013 Outstanding Small Company Philanthropy honor by the Whatcom Community Foundation. RAM Construction was also honored by the Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce as the 2012 Large Business of the Year.
