In his time leading Politico, Jim VandeHei oversaw the company's innovative high-growth, high-impact model, regularly appeared as a political analyst on shows like MSNBC's "Morning Joe", co-moderated 2 presidential debates in 2008, and was named 2015 Editor of the Year by the National Press Foundation. Before starting Politico in 2006, Jim VandeHei worked as a national political reporter and White House reporter for the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal, where he was the first to break the story that Republicans were evaluating the possibility of impeaching President Bill Clinton.
