December 2010 I learned the Coleman building at 2nd and St. Francis in Wichita KS would be demolished and I thought it would make for a very interesting time lapse video. I worked with Sedgwick County Project Planners, The Coleman Company and a property owner across the street to clear this project and from March to July I used a scripting program installed on a Canon point and shoot camera to capture the machines working Monday-Saturday, 8am-5pm. The site was cleaned up July 8th and the parking lot construction started late August. I continued photographing to get the parking lot construction, but sometime between October 6th and 20th , someone broke into the building I was photographing from and stole all my equipment. It had always been a risk. Since I didn't have the complete rebuild, I abandoned it and focused on the demolition. I have 3/4 of the whole project and i was sick to lose the opportunity to get it all, but I wasn't about to put another camera into the building and lose another one. I was burned out on the project for a long time, but finally made the time to complete the video between March-June 2012. All in all, there's an estimated 800 hours of time invested in this project.
