Born July 18, 1921 in Cambridge, Ohio, John Glenn was the epitome of an American hero. Glenn passed away at 95 on July 8, 2016. Glenn was a distinguished fighter pilot in WWII and Korean Wars who later joined the new Astronaut program.
Glenn was the first American to orbit the earth three times before returning to earth on February 20, 1962 and the fifth person to go into space by that time. Before his death he was the last surviving member of the Mercury 7 after the death of Scott Carpenter.
