My friend Claire and I had decided to take a little jaunt to Dedham on a beautiful spring day. It's only a short drive from where I live and I hadn't been there for a few years and find the beautiful buildings and surrounding countryside very inspiring and uplifting. It's only a short walk along the river Stour to Flatford which is the location for the most well known of 19th century artist John Cnstable's paintings including 'The Hay Wain'. The mill at Flatford was one of many business concerns of Constables father and both the mill and Willie Lott's cottage are still there today.
