Sue Gardner has been described as the librarian to the world and the Mother Teresa of the Internet. In 2012 Forbes magazine named her the world's 70th most powerful woman, and in 2009 she was voted by Huffington Post readers as their media game-changer of the year. Sue is the Executive Director of the Wikimedia Foundation, the global non-profit that operates Wikipedia, the world's fifth-most-popular website. Before that she was a journalist for 17 years, mostly with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, where in her last position she ran CBC.CA, Canada's most popular news site. Her work is motivated by the desire to ensure that everyone in the world has free and easy access to the information they want and need.
