RC Sport Flyer is reviewing the new DA-120 engine, which will include computerized thrust testing with various props, and then it will be used to replace a DA-100L engine in an AeroWorks Yak 54 as part of a "Hop-Up" review project. This particular run is a PC-controlled thrust test, where the PC drives the throttle to conduct a step-test. The engine is run for 5 seconds each at 20%, then 40%, then 60%, then 80%, and finally 100% throttle - for five seconds each, to allow capture of stablized data at each position to allow plotting of data for various propellers. A VOX 28X10 laminated wood prop is used in this test - delivering top RPM of 6100, producing 60 lbs of thrust.
