GCI Outdoor Sitbacker Canoe Seat review
Bird: What's up guys? Bird from birdknowsbest.com.
Today, we're reviewing the GCI Outdoor Sitbacker Canoe seat. This is a small light weight chair, designed to make your canoeing more enjoyable and more comfortable.
You've got a lumbar support right here, which is very comfortable for your back. And then on the side you've got a strap that adjusts the tilt of the back of the chair when you're canoeing.
On the bottom of the chair, you've got 2 straps on each side that are adjustable. And you set the chair over the canoe seat. Adjust the straps and that's how you connect the chair.
On the back of the chair, you have a mesh net, which works well for holding bugs spray or sunscreen, or whatever else you'd like to hold in there. They've also got this nice handle. So, when you pick this up, the chair itself just picks up and it's easy to carry.
Another great feature of this chair is the portage lock. If you are portaging, you don't want the top of the chair to flop down in front of you. You're not going to be able to see where you are walking. So you just connect the portage lock by putting it through the slot here, using the Velcro and then just pushing it down. And that keeps the chair together. So it's not going to block your view when you are walking.
The chair weighs just under 3 pounds, 16 inches wide by about 15 and a half, almost 16 tall.
Right now Chris is going to demonstrate how to install the seat on the canoe.
Chris:Alright. I'm installing it a bit easier. You just got to undo the clamps at the bottom. Get enough slack.
First of all, make sure you have a bench seat. When we first checked out this canoe, it had a form fitted seat. And this won't sit on top of the form fitted seat. So, you got to make sure you have a bench flat seat to put it on.
Undo these clamps, give them some slack. Drop it down. And what I'm going to do is I'm going to reach underneath and connect each of those large clasps. Give a tug on the straps to tighten up. Boom! Ready to go!
Bird: Boom!
Chris: You can recline right here and that's got a portage lock over here to keep the head down.
Bird: And you like it?
Chris: Love it.
Bird: Five stars?
Chris: Five stars.
Bird: The GCI Sitbacker Canoe seat is a great canoe chair. I use it on a boundary waters trip this summer in the Northern Minnesota, where we have long days canoeing and lot of portaging.
The portage lock really helps. It's light, just under 3 pounds. My back was thankful that I was using it. The strap is great for adjusting the back when you are canoeing. You could also use it as a camp chair and a pinch if you want to be sitting right next to the ground, but that also is an option. You can also use it for sporting events, for football or baseball games. You're going to be seating on a metal bench. You just adjust these and they will sit there.
It supports up to 250 pounds. It comes in this color, green and also comes in black. It runs about 35 bucks on Amazon. I put a link in the description below. It will also be available on my website, at birdknowsbest.com, in my Amazon store in the outdoors section.
