This may take some practice and again, you do not have to rest at the Catacombs bonfire in order to do this, just run in and hit the lever before running back out. Just try and try again and soon you'll have the best Dex weapon in the game.
It swings like a halberd as I was trying to say before time ran out. If you miss, you'll be slow to recover but if you hit, you recover quickly for a follow up swing leading to devastating results. I love this weapon.
