Girona is an excellent day tour destination from Barcelona. Girona, is a well preserved medieval city just 60 miles from Barcelona. It's a great day trip if you're using Barcelona as a base. and want to explore a bit of costa brava.Though we recommend staying in the city at least overnight. If you're interested in Day trips, there are tour companies that can arrange it from Barcelona, but you can do it yourself and just take the train.
There's so much to see in these beautiful city. Start the walk from at the ancient Roman walls of Girona, which is close to Plaza Catalunya. This ancient wall proetected Girona from foreign invaders. It's a good 20-30 minutes walk to the end of the wall. The wall ends at a beautiful shaded park and the back of the Cathedral. Next to it is the ruins of the Arab Baths. Both can be visited for a fee.
Just get lost and walk through the old Jewish quarters, wander through the narrow cobblestone streets and picturesque staircases. Visit the numerous shops. Sit in one of the restaurants for some tapas and cava in Plaza Independencia. Cross the numerous bridges, and see the colorful houses along the river Onyar.
There's so much to see in beautiful Girona.
