Here’s what we’ve been waiting for almost two decades: Alex FX return to the long format recordings, since its debut release “Underdub” in 1997.
“RED / BLACK” is the advance single from his forthcoming album “ECHOMENTAL 1” and it features the strong lyrics written by Kellie Andrews and the haunting vocals from Rhianna Faye on an equally pulsating and hypnotic track, as if driven through a deep narrative soundtrack to a movie that is set on our own minds - well, that’s really Alex’s trademark sound, after all.
This release also features outstanding remixes produced by top artists like Tiago Fragateiro, who delivered one of the most deep visions this track could reach; a club favourite for sure. On the other hand, Ka§par has funked the whole thing up, old “raw” school mode, pitching down the vocal and throwing Blues samples into the lot. Mr. Herbert Quain has operated what we believe to be the true meaning of “re-interpretation”, giving us the most soulful mid tempo glance from the track - absolutely lovely. 16Tons have made a very strong approach, almost Front242 style, adding some acoustic drums into their electronic blender.
To complete the pack, Alex FX produced a special alternative beatless version, removing all the drums so that the melody and the words could come (even) more forward.
Whoever said that bitterness wasn't sweet?
