Hey guys so I know a lot of you have been waiting for my take on this most recent event in Destiny 2, that might be signalling a true downfall of Destiny 2, and the final blow to its community. Here are my thoughts on the matter, and my view about whether or not if can ever recover at this point.

How’s it going guys, so today I want to discuss the most recent events, in the ever growing topic of destiny 2. So as we all know by this point, massive amounts of fans and consumers have been voicing their opinion to bungie, to express their strong dislike of the current status of the game, and to refuse and push back Bungie’s agenda of eververse, being an integral part of the game. I think its safe to say, that this has been the roughest time period for bungie yet, as all PR and news relating to them have been negative for quite sometime, but at least they have always had their big name loyal content creators, who used to cover nothing but destiny, backing them up, and continuing to try and spread positive news. Well, it seems now like even the creators who were once thought of as bungie’s saving grace, are starting to also agree with the majority of the community, and express they aren’t happy with the state destiny 2 is in, and that this situation has been very problematic for them.
First is Datto, who actually stated that he doesn’t enjoy making negative videos about destiny, and stated
“The last thing I thought we’d be doing with Destiny 2 is complaining so much about it,”
This was followed up by others, who are equally as influential in the destiny play space, such as more console who had an interesting quote to say, that I won’t read but leave it there for you all to see.
“Can we not go a single week without Destiny 2 s***ing the bed?”
But then well known destiny lore master, MyNameIsByf, had quite a lot to say in an interview with forbes, and stated:
“Personally, I live in a space where my content is evergreen. Lore is always in season in that sense I’m not planning on leaving, but I think this is a call for an improvement in the quality of the content on my channel as well as a little diversification,”
For his thoughts on the now mostly unified movement away from Destiny he said:
“Regarding the general shift, this was sadly par for the course. In a sense Bungie is lucky that this is happening now instead of in six months’ time. A shift away from the game like this would be disastrous with Anthem being released at the same time. At this moment however, we’re seeing the Destiny community feel a little lost. We would cover other games like Warframe and The Division, but they already have established communities. We are for the most part...stuck...like...really stuck.”
“I feel fortunate that I have Patreon to keep me going but right now we’ve all just accepted that the next few months will be some of our worst.”
There were several others as well that had their own thoughts and opinions to state, but to me it seems that these big content creators are not abandoning the game series entirely, but rather stating they are in trouble right now, and that bungie needs to get their act together quickly. Because if things continue down the current course, then they will have to find other games to begin covering a well. A lot of the complaints these creators had, stem from Destiny 2’s core issues, such as them stating people are not going to watch their videos about the game, if there is no secret quest and items, re rollable guns, and just plain no variety in the gameplay. Even destiny reaction channels are having a hard time finding clips of people being genuinely excited about unlocking something. Now, this is a big deal for these creators, to state these issues with the game, as many of these content creators, have more or less dedicated the last 4-5 years of their life to this game. Destiny became their hobby, their job, and their life.
