So the time has come for an upgrade to my drone arsenal... or is it more of a downgrade?
DJI's Mavic Mini is an interesting device to say the least! Weighing in at an astounding 249 grams, this drone manages to cram so much tech into such a svelte and compact package, that it's almost beyond comprehension.
A lot of corners were cut as compared to its big brother drones, but the Mavic Mini is a quite a capable device nonetheless, taking on it's competitors with a unique advantage - packing the biggest punch on the market relative to takeoff weight.
Was this drone worth selling my Mavic Pro 2? Definitely. Should you be placing an order for one in time for Christmas? It's up for debate - it really depends on your use case. But if you're looking for the perfect tech gift for yourself and your loved one this holiday season, and if you've been looking to buy a smaller drone for a while, the Mavic Mini is the way to go!
For people that need to travel light with their drones, and don't want to deal with the bureaucracy of registering your flying camera, the Mavic Mini might just be the best drone of 2019.
Stay tuned to find out my thoughts and impressions as I unbox and test the Mavic Mini (Fly more Combo, FCC version). And as per tradition, testing will be conducted in heavy winter conditions - this time there's no snow, but we did fly in 36 km/h wind! Also, we flew at night, to push the tiny sensor in the Mavic Mini to the limit of its capabilities. Breezy flying on a warm sunny day just doesn't fit with the style here on NDR.
