Drone lost GPS signal and went into RTC (Return to China) flyaway mode. I thought all was lost when I didn't find the drone after searching for hours in the dark and rain. Fortunately, I labeled my name and phone number all over the drone and received a call from a nice gentleman whose house I almost crashed into. I gave him a reward and proceeded to cautiously dry out all of the electronics....It lives!
In case any DJI owners want to know:
-Firmware was latest from DJI
-Compass was calibrated immediately before flight
-GPS acquired for 20-30seconds before flights (lights flashing green)
-Lights started flashing yellow immediately before losing control
-Once control started to slip, Phantom 2 would not respond to controller input
-After Phantom 2 started to "fly away" I turned off controller hoping to initiated safety return/land mode.... No such luck
I won't be flying this thing anymore in an urban environment
