This is my first video. I have attempted to demonstrate the replacement of the yaw motor on a P4. DJI does not make all their yaw motors the same. Each has a series of magnets in the housing which tells the yaw sensor where the motor is. The sensor is calibrated at the factory individually so that the camera points straight ahead.
Thanks to Jiminyfix for his advise. We are both old geezers that have been around since the 50’s flying all sorts of contraptions. I would be glad to answer any of your questions and if you have a better way just let us know, we haven’t stopped learning.
Here is a suggestion Jim sent me. He is absolutely correct. Note the part about Silly Putty. I had forgotten how young he is.
My only suggestions would be to close the vise a bit until the space is a little less than the bearing boss diameter, (for more support area), in case you have a stubborn shaft that needs maximum "persuasion". I also put the drum DOWN on the vise, instead of the shaft head, when reassembling, to keep the shaft from moving back out of the bearing. I have had a few do that with your method. These are minor details but still produce the same results. Oh, not sure if you do this already; I use silly putty on the inside of the drum and the motor, to remove any tiny pieces of magnet or particles before I reassemble. Did you know that silly putty was originally used to clean walls before putting on wall paper?
