The beginning of the storm that hit northeastern Washington and north Idaho the evening of 8/2/14. Taken from the restaurant named 41 South at the south end of the Long Bridge near Sandpoint, ID. The sailboat shown is our Catalina 22 that sustained considerable damage. The storm got MUCH worse than this with winds up to 56 mph and 6-8 foot swells. The yellow/black motor boat that the two men try to save in this video sank and its owner was badly injured. To read more about our storm experience, visit my blog at stingysailor.com.
Our sailboat was nearly considered a total loss by our insurance company. It required over $4000 in professional repairs. We were only able to save it because of the considerable restoration that I had done to her myself already.
