The world of 3D printing has so many incredible applications-- even for our furry friends.
In fact, the technology was able to make one dog's day.
A sweet little pup named Derby was born with deformed front legs—leaving him unable to move around on hard surfaces.
That is…until now.
Derby was just fitted with 3D-printed prosthetics, allowing him to run down the street for the first time ever.
3D Systems, a company based in South Carolina, quickly helped design and manufacture prosthetics customized to Derby’s needs. The workers said they started with lower models, so it wouldn't initially be such a drastic change for Derby.
Because of the rapidly produced 3D extensions, Derby is now able to run alongside and sometimes past his new adoptive owners.
A worker at 3D Systems had actually fostered the dog, so she said she wanted to do something to help.
