Doritos recently rolled out three new flavors. But these three varieties of Doritos Jacked chips don't have names, they have numbers instead (Flavor 404, Flavor 855, Flavor 2653). You're supposed to try out these "mystery flavors" and enter your favorite one on a website ( https://www.boldflavorexperiment.com/ ) for a chance to win prizes in a contest. Of course it's all just a marketing ploy to try to generate interest and sales. And guess what...it worked! I almost never buy Doritos anymore, but when I saw these in a convenience store the other day I picked up all three!
The contest starts 4/29/2014 and runs through 6/27/2014.
I'm not a big fan of spicy foods and I had figured that these new chips would all be spicy. Turns out that none of them were too bad (which could be a disappointment for someone looking for the hot stuff). My favorite was probably Flavor 404. It tastes similar to the standard Doritos Nacho Cheese chips, with a little bit of a citrus taste added (lime?). Flavor 855 was probably the spiciest of the three, but wasn't bad. Flavor 2653 was the strangest of all of them. It smelled almost musty in the bag and the chips were heavily dusted with flavor powder (or whatever it is). I can't really describe how they tasted beyond "strange", but they couldn't have been too bad--I kept on eating them.
