I picked up this plane from Great Hobbies in Mississauga, when I was on my way into Toronto on the weekend. This is another one that I had never heard of - the EasySky Micro B-17. It does look similar to the micro B-17 sold by HobbyKing, but I don't know if it's the same. I had considered getting the E-flite micro B-17, more than once, but balked at spending the price (well over $200 CAD, I seem to remember). At $142 CAD and change for the BNF version, I didn't resist this guy... although the idea of powering 4 brushed motors off a 1-cell LiPo made me a bit nervous (the RTF version sells for $156 CAD and change, so they don't charge much for the little transmitter). I did need to do a bit of fiddling to get this ready for its first flight - the control rods were not connected to the elevators and the rudder, the ailerons needed to be reversed, and the CG was too far aft, so I put some lead tape in the battery compartment (plane still seemed a bit tail-heavy in the air). I was also concerned that there seemed to be so little throw for the elevators. All in all, I was distinctly dubious as to how this one would fly (if it flew at all). It performed better than I expected in this initial trial. I took it off from a runner of roofing tar-paper, as I prefer to avoid hand-launching with new planes if possible, and there was no way this was going to take off from grass.
