Frank Frankovsky, director of Hardware Design and Supply Chain at Facebook, discusses the Open Compute Project. The Open Compute Project focuses on large-scale compute systems, and defines and describes these infrastructures in open source ways.
Facebook and the Open Compute Project are especially interested in innovating hardware design, virtualizing away from co-location and datacenters, and taking advantage of certifications and other contributions from companies--like Red Hat--that have joined the Open Compute Project in order to create standards for the broader technology community.
