With nearly 2 BILLION users on Facebook it is more important than ever to review your Facebook security settings to insure your account is protected, secured, and that you maintain as much privacy as possible (knowing full well that Facebook uses your data for advertising and remarketing).
To start with, go to the Security/Login tab turn on two factor authentication, set up to receive alerts about unrecognized logins, and set up friends you can trust to contact on your behalf if you are locked out.
On the Privacy tab set up who can post to your timeline, who can see your timeline, and who can tag you in posts
In the Blocking tab, you can block friends, messaging, game apps, and friend invites.
