Fishing in Terraria is actually a lot easier to do than most people realize, and the benefits of fishing are many, especially in pre-hardmode. It's possible to skip mining for armor and weapons almost entirely. You can get a pick axe with 100% mining power, weapons, loot crates, mounts and more.

Fishing was added to Terraria in the 1.2.4 patch for PC. It is currently not in Consoles or Mobile at the time of this video release, but is planned to be added soon so you can all look forward to fishing if you aren't on PC!
