Still determining if it was the ESC or lipo, but the plane lost motor power (still had flight controls, so it wasn't a Spektrum "brown out"), and stalled into the ground. I turned to avoid a trailer home near the field and it stalled. The lipo burst 3 seconds after impact and caught fire. I ran out and grabbed the plane by the wing and rushed it over to the gravel road so the field wouldn't catch fire. Most of the plane actually survived, which was impressive!
